The triple energizer/triple burner meridian is one of the twelve main meridians in the meridian system of Traditional Medicine. This meridian plays a crucial role in regulating qi and fluids in the body, and is closely related to the functions of the Triple Burner (Upper, Middle, and Lower Burners).

Pathway of the triple energizer meridian:

Main pathways:

  1. Starting point: Begins at the outer corner (towards the little finger) of the ring finger’s fingernail (Guan Chong acupoint).
  2. Hand & Wrist: Runs along the back of the hand, between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, up to the wrist.
  3. Forearm: Runs between the two forearm bones (radius and ulna), on the posterior outer side of the forearm.
  4. Elbow: Passes through the olecranon process.
  5. Arm: Continues along the posterior outer side of the arm.
Shoulder: Ascends to the shoulder region, crossing the Shao Yang Gallbladder Meridian (behind the shoulder).
  6. Surclavicular fossa: Enters the supraclavicular fossa (the depression above the clavicle, Que Bon acupoint).
  7. Chest: Descends to the chest region, connecting with the Pericardium (outer membrane of the heart).
  8. Diaphragm: Transects through the diaphragm.
  9. Abdomen: Descends to the abdomen, connecting with the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao.

Branching:

  • Branch 1:
    • From the chest area (Danzhong point) up to the supraclavicular fossa (Quebon point).
    • Continuing up to the neck area, behind the ear.
    • Circling around the ear, up to the area above the ear.
    • Circling down to the cheek, to the area below the eye socket.
  • Branch 2:
    • From behind the ear into the ear.
Going out to the front of the ear.
    • Passing through the Shangguan point (of the Gallbladder Meridian).
    • To the outer corner of the eye, connecting with the Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian.
  • Regulating Qi (vital energy): The Triple Heater Meridian regulates the flow of Qi throughout the body, ensuring smooth circulation of Qi and blood.
  • Regulating Fluids: The Triple Heater Meridian regulates the metabolism and excretion of water in the body, preventing edema.
  • Connecting with the Internal Organs: The Triple Heater Meridian has a close relationship with other internal organs, especially the Pericardium, helping to regulate the functions of these organs.
