The stomach meridian, one of the 12 main meridians in traditional medicine, plays a crucial role in the flow of energy and maintaining the body’s health. It is likened to the “Sea of Qi of the Five Organs” providing energy for vital functions and directly influencing digestive function and nutrient absorption.
The stomach meridian is notable for its complex path, starting from the side of the nose, connecting with many other meridians such as the Taiyang, Shaoyang, Du, and Ren meridians, and finally ending at the second toe.
- Head and Face Section: The Stomach Meridian originates from the Chengqi point on the side of the nose, intersects with the Taiyang Meridian at Jingming, circles around the lips, intersects with the Du meridian at Renzhong and the Ren meridian at Chengxiang, passes through Daying, Jiaxa, Xiaguan, and ascends to Shending. This meridian governs the head and face region, affecting the senses such as eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Body Section: From Daying, the Stomach Meridian descends to Renying, passing through Quebon, Qihu, Yingshuang, Rugen, Liangmen, Tianxu… to Qichong. This section is closely related to respiratory, digestive, and reproductive functions.
- Lower Extremities: From Qi Chong, the Stomach meridian passes through Bei Guan, Fu Tu, Du Pi, Zu San Li… to Li Duai at the second toe. This meridian governs lower extremity movement and influences excretory function.
