The lung meridian (Tai Yin Meridian), one of the main meridians in traditional medicine, plays a crucial role in regulating respiratory function and protecting the body from external pathogens.

Pathway of the lung meridian:

Originating from the Middle Jiao, the Lung meridian is closely linked to the Large Intestine, creating a close relationship between respiration and digestion. From here, the meridian ascends to the stomach, passes through the diaphragm to the Lungs, the organ responsible for respiration. The journey continues up the larynx and throat, then branches off to the armpit, runs along the anterior outer side of the arm, down the elbow and forearm, and finally ends at the base of the thumb nail.

  • Branching: From the Lieque acupoint, a small branch separates and runs down the back of the hand, ending at the corner of the index fingernail and connecting with the Large Intestine meridian, demonstrating the link between these two meridians in regulating respiratory and excretory functions.

The Lung Meridian (Tai Yin Meridian) plays a crucial role in treating respiratory, circulatory, excretory, and immune-related diseases.
