The kidney meridian is one of the twelve main meridians, belonging to the Yin meridians of the leg, and has a close reciprocal relationship with the Bladder Meridian. According to Traditional Medicine, the kidneys are not merely excretory organs but also the root of life, storing vital energy – the source of genetic energy and sustaining all human life activities.
Pathway of the kidney meridian:
The kidney meridian is divided into two parts, forming a closed loop that creates a complex energy network:
- The Main meridian (External): Starting from the Yongquan point on the sole of the foot (in the middle of the sole, the indentation when the toes are curled), it runs along the posterior edge of the inner ankle (Rangu point), up the lower leg (Taixi point ), the inner thigh, into the lower abdomen, up to the chest, and ends at the Yufu point below the clavicle.
- The Branch Meridian (Internal): From the kidney, the meridian connects to the Bladder, up to the Lungs, the throat, and ends at the tongue. This connection explains the relationship between the kidney and other organs in physiological functions.
